Week 4 - Tuesday

I am again finding that discussing my current health issues openly with people is bringing me a lot of personal support. I had a meeting on a free-lance work project this morning and felt I needed to say I can carry on the work as long as I feel fit. Six months ago I would have thought saying such a thing was unacceptable - indicative of an attitude problem in the work arena. However, the response I got was - they definitely want me to work on the project and will work flexibly with me if there are days I don’t feel well. How supportive!

During the above meeting I had a call to say the media interview now looks off. Several hours later, another call asking if I could be available this evening if the television news company can “roll” this evening. Sure I said. Long pause while they discussed arrangements of where, what time, etc. Another call - TV news can’t commit to the story this evening, would I come to a Press Launch tomorrow morning as the press may want a one to one ‘human interest’ interview with me. Or not.

Mornings are not my forte, as I have written previously, but press launches are not part of my lifestyle - so an adventure! A chance to see a press launch and the media at work, if nothing else. So far, I am impressed at the amount of time it takes negotiating across several organisations one simple interview and how flexibly people in the media obviously have to be to achieve these interviews and news items.

So it’s off to bed even earlier than usual so I can be making an unusually early start to the day (about the same time as I used to get up for years, just like millions of others do every day)!

One Response to “Week 4 - Tuesday”

I was encouraged to hear that you do not suffer from the dreaded ‘flu-like’ symptoms. I was on the ‘old’ inteferon a few years ago and those were the worst. I am due to start the combination therapy in January so reading your blog is quite informative. The old treatment was an injection three times a week so I am really glad it is only once a week now! Good luck with the treatment, I hope it works out for you,

    All the best Christine.

Ron writes: Many thanx for your comments. I wish you every success with your treatment in January. Keep reading and keep in touch! All the best. Ron
